Having worked with the International Textile and Fashion Retail Industry and Brands for the last two decades, Maya successfully promoted India in the global platform as a major sourcing & manufacturing hub for the world. She has worked with international textile Brands from France, Poland, Italy, Spain and also Germany. She has been instrumental in promoting India’s rich textile heritage & weaves and workmanship of local artisans to global fashion stage in the textile and fashion Industries.
In the year 2008, she started her entrepreneurial journey and founded Haute Couture with a mission to elevate Indian textile and crafts by showcasing the countey’s manufacturing capabilities to the world. Her vision was to establish an organisation that is centred on offering transparency, superior quality, competitive pricing and on time deliveries to apparel brands and customers sitting far across various continents and looking to import quality products produced in bulk from India. Dr.Maya’s interests, however, extends beyond her business ventures. She has just been appointed the Ambassador for Festac Africa textile and clothing Sector.
She has taken on significant leadership roles in various organizations, serving as the Karnataka President for Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry-Textile Council. Her past role as the Karnataka chairperson of the Women Development Council reflects her unwavering commitment to empowering women and advancing gender equality in various facets of society. She is also the ex working committee member of Department of Handlooms & Textiles for the Government of Karnataka, India.
She started as a model in the fashion field and won various Beauty Pageants, and she leveraged this recognition she received to be a voice of women’s empowerment. She started Bee Chic, a skill centre where uneducated women and widows were trained to be financially independent by providing them various tailoring and garmenting skills. She addressed many forums encouraging women how to start their business .
She also addressed various platforms to talk on women empowerment and Gender Parity. She also believes in Women Participation in the governance of the country and actively participates in political work and social service. She is a speaker at Women Economic Forums and is a social activist.
