Oscar Ochieng’ Okoth is his official name, and he is an award winning emerging artist. His stage name? SPITTER 99!

In our interview, we first wanted to know the meaning of his stage name, it’s origins and why he settled on it. ” Spitter means the total speed through which a human being can articulate or play with words, ” he said. ” As a talented speed rap artist, those who saw my ability advised me to settle on that name,” he declared. “Given the feedback I received from my audiences, I decided to add the 99, in reference to the score accuracy of my articulation and rhythmical outlook of my rap pieces,” he said.

” For a person my age, I have performed in different stages and entertained people from all walks of life,” Oscar said. ” These are moments that I can never forget in my life,” he proceeded. “I am thankful to God and everyone close to me, that has supported throughout my development, because I have achieved awards and high value recognitions, ” he said. ” Safaricom Chapa Dimba, Kala Comedy Show,Africities, just to name a few are some of the big stages I have performed in,” he said.

“However, I don’t have to wait all the time for events. I do live shows and live band performances all over the city of Kisumu,” Oscar told City Bite. ” Through these experiences, I have taken note of the gaps that exist for artists in the county and challenges they face in their day to day living,” Oscar told us. ” This underscores the importance of festivals in the calibre of FESTAC AFRICA, which glory be to God, is coming to Kisumu, our beloved City,” he said. ” This is because they expose our artists to the world stage and I am super prepared to showcase my flare to the world and to learn new ideas.”

According to Oscar, he works with Identity Music Records, a recording company under the auspices of Flaqo 411 Society. To him, the platform provided by FESTAC AFRICA therefore, will add value to these local artist groups and company through exposure and talent exchange.
