After week-long speculations and anxiety from Manchester United fans, French prodigious center- back Lenny Yoro is on the brink of joining the red devils, according to multiple reports from both France and London. The race to win his signature was earlier between the English giants and Real Madrid, and original reports indicated that Yoro, 18, preferred a move to the latter, despite his parent club Lille accepting a mouth-wagging £42m bid with add-ons from United. Yoro is widely considered a generational talent by many a football pundit and fans. This, therefore accentuates INEOS’ commitment and promise to change the transfer policy at Old Trafford, which erstwhile revolved around established stars.
According to those in the know, those in situ at Old Trafford offered the best deal structure for Lille, prompting the Les Dogues president Olivier Letang to cajole the youngster to join the English giants. As of this morning, reports indicate that the wonderkid, his agents and family are expected to be in England for medical tests and to complete agreement in personal terms. If the deal matures to fruition, Yoro will only be the second signing under Sir. Jim Ratcliffe’s part ownership of the club, after Dutch center forward Joshua Zirkzee appended his signature to a five year contract with the red devils last week.
At the beginning of their tenure, INEOS promised a new beginning to the United fan base, which would see Manchester put back in Manchester United. Since then, there has been a complete overhaul of the leadership structure, which led to the signing of C.E.O Omar Berrada from City Football Group, Technical Director Dan Ashworth from Newcastle United, Jason Wilcox from Southampton and Christopher Vivell. Other changes to have take place include a new head of medical department, new backroom staff and new principles for signing players.
The principles provided criteria such as: No signing of super star players and signing players under 25 years of age, and truthfully so, this has been proven by Manchester United’s transfer targets this summer. It is expected that after Yoro, Mathjis de Ligt of Bayern Munich, Jarrad Branthwhite of Everton and Manuel Ugarte will be the priority targets and could sum up the summer 24/25 transfer window.
